THE WELLSPRING (2025 - work in progress)

Wellspring means an original source or abundant supply. Springs have long been associated with portals into another world, or described as mirrors for their reflective qualities. The reflections of clouds on the hot springs water became part of my palette to paint emotions and sensations within the body. Trekking into the Rio Grande Gorge to Northern New Mexican Hotsprings to work on a series of self-portraits, internal and external worlds began to converge. Journeying to the literal wellspring to capture an alignment of light and clouds began to feel like a journey into an internal space, searching for momentary bursts of epiphany from mind and body. Beyond basic corrections for exposure and tone, none of these photos are digitally altered or photoshopped in any way.
